“Clitheroe lady farmers were delighted to welcome Alison O’Neill, a lovely lady who tells a very inspirational story of sheer determination and shows despite all the doubters, including Grandma that she can be successful. A shepherdess
who designs tweed products, farmer, walker, mother and now author whose enthusiasm is infectious and whose story, interspersed with humour, hardship and setbacks whilst living and working on the Howgill fells in Cumbria has turned to success through diversification and is on going. With best wishes.”

“The sparkling delivery of the Barefoot Shepherdess in her talk, belies the hardship of life in the dales, with great humour her determination to succeed shines through.Whilst rearing her own flock of sheep she also designs tweed clothing, arranges walks around the beautiful Howgills and further afield. Her love of her life in the remote region of Shacklabank combined with the sophistication of life as a speaker is truly inspirational.Great fun.”

“Alison is a shepherdess, with sheep that range across the Howgill Fells, between the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District. Alison springs from a family of farm folk. She appears before an audience clad in Tweed with a shepherd’s crook
in her hand. She sometimes has a sheepdog at foot. Alison talks about her upbringing and experiences in a lively, anecdotal way. Her audiences chuckle. What she says is well-remembered.”

“The members of Burton, Carnforth and Milnthorpe Farmers’ discussion group, recently had the immense pleasure of listening a talk by Alison O’Neil. All our members agreed that Alison’s life story (so far) was one of the best talks we have had for many years. It made us think, laugh and even nearly cry at times. I have recommended several other groups to contact her and share this wonderful experience for their members too.”

“The Lyth Valley WI Group had the very real privilege of hosting an Autumn Meeting at Brigsteer Village Hall where Alison O’Neill, ” The Shepherdess” had kindly agreed to be our speaker. The Group comprises seven local WI’s and such a prestigious speaker attracted an audience of nearly 100 members and friends. For nearly an hour Alison held a captive audience spellbound, she did not need props or pictures but simply told her life story.
She inspired, enthused and entertained us with a delightful thought provoking insight of her journey from an early age to her present day success. Alison was humble, gracious and certainly showed her joy of life. Her energy, enthusiasm and hilarious stories inspired us all and made us realise if you set your heart on something and work hard it can be achieved.
We thank Alison for sparing the time to speak to us and wish her every success in her future ventures.”
